Hunting and fishing

The emergence of agriculture during the New Stone Age has not replaced completely hunting and gathering that are practiced by modern men even today. Different geographical areas provide different kinds of game; the hunting techniques may also vary (see also the hunting of the Asmat and Matis tribes). Whatever has been available in the forests of the alpine region, Neolithic men has made use of it. The alpine wild life comprised mammals (Bear, Capricorn, Marten, Rabbit…), birds (capercailzie), fish (trout) and crustacean (crawfish). Robbing of eggs from wild birds has also been a current practice throughout the ages and cultures. The easier way of getting a prey is either to install a trap or to take it from somebody who has already done the job.
